ImageEvery once in a while things around Camp Grayson become a little redundant and I find I have nothing new to write about. Sure, I can come up with a paragraph or two about poop, or translate a bit of conversation with the Little Mister to fill up some blog posts, but having enough material to write a full article on can be like trying to squeeze that last little amount of toothpaste stuck to the inside of the tube. You might get a little drop to clean your teeth but your breath still stinks.

When I run out of "toothpaste" for my articles, I spend a lot of time reading various blogs written by the many mommies and daddies out there. Since the creation of blogs, there have been thousands of parents talking about their joys and struggles of raising children. With the increase of stay-at-home-dads around the world, many have turned to the Internet to write about their new jobs. I also belong to several forums where guys rant and rave about everything from strollers and toy recalls, to beer and sports. Many of the dads on the nationwide forums have never met face to face but have developed friendships nonetheless. One forum even has a poker room where you can blow your wad of funny money while sipping suds at your computer. It's not quite Vegas but it's a heck of a lot cheaper.

When I'm searching around different blog communities looking for a good read I always click on the funny titles first. I thought I might share some of those blog titles with you and in the process give props to some of my fellow blogging dads.

Hooray For Saturday is one that sums it up pretty well in the title. I know Saturday is one of my favorite days to sleep late until 7:30 AM and then have pancakes! It's nice when Mama doesn't have to rush off to the office and we can hang out as a family.

My blog, Daddyshack, falls into the category of the many blogs that start with "Daddy." Some of my favorite titles in this list are Daddy Wears Slippers to Work and Daddy in a Strange Land. I would wear slippers to work but in this Texas heat all they would do is make my feet sweat. And sometimes I feel like a daddy in a strange land when mommies stare at me in the store. I can't tell if they are worried I might drop my child or if they are undressing me with their eyes because a dad who takes care of his kids is calendar model hot under that pooch belly and thinning hair.

Corndog and Rootbeer is a great blog and I don't just say that because I like corndogs and root beer. But I do like them. Crabbydad is hilarious but only if you don't mind the language. I don't think he's writing this blog for his kids to read after they have mastered the Dick and Jane books. I highly recommend it to those without virgin ears.

I'm Not a Slacker is a fun read especially if you click on the "Dumbass Parent of the Day" link. If you are a parent that has been busted for stupidity he'll call you out on his blog. I'm always amazed at how ignorant some parents can be and can't help but laugh and be thankful for the head on my shoulders.

A Man Among Mommies is a fellow forum member and blogger. He writes a blog post pretty much every day, which is hard for me to do sometimes. My favorite thing on his blog is The 5, which is a recap of five things at the end of his posts. He is also the founder of Dadstock. Dadstock started out as an at-home dad get together for guys in the Illinois area on June 30th. It has now ballooned into a major barbeque and beer weekend with dad's driving and flying in from many other states to participate in trashing his house. I think his wife is bailing out of town with the kids. Hopefully the police won't come knocking on his door looking for an event permit!

So there is a sample of what I read when I'm not writing my own blog or articles for Quirkee. The blogosphere is full of funny and interesting stuff. If you want to see more of these blogs mentioned or check out other dad blogs you can find a long list over at Rebel Dad. See you around the Web!
