Kashmere Stage Band "Texas Thunder Soul 1968-1974"
Smoke, sophistication, intrigue...inspired, bubbling, moody
grooves from theblaxploitation era, the likes of which you'd never
expect to hear from a Houston, TX highschool band. Back in the day,
highschool jazz ensemble instructor Conrad O. Johnson directed and
organized the funkiest, hottest band you've never heard and, God bless
him, he recorded it!
Mark Fosson "The Lost Takoma Sessions *"
Get your finger pickin' on! This long lost treasure was
originally intended to be released on Fahey's Takoma label. That never
happened because the label folded but Drag City, thanks to the help of
Fosson's cousin, Tiffany Anders (daughter of filmmaker Allison Anders),
uncovered the masters and finally put this out for our listening
pleasure. Fahey himself referred to Fosson's recordings as "the best
demo tape I've heard since Kottke." No small praise, coming from the
master. And check out that perm on the
cover! A must for fans of masterful, evocative guitar playing.
