Quirkee.com is going
to South By Southwest 2008! That's right, boys and girls, it's the biggest, baddest,
and grandest of all music, film, and web festivals in the United
States and it happens right here in Austin,
Texas. For those of you who don't know,
last year SXSW showcased over 1,400 music acts at 64 venues for their music
festival and screened 230 films for their film festival. This year should
have even more music madness and movie goodness. That's a lot of stuff to do in
a week and a half, but we're up for the task, dear readers! We had a blast last year and will do the same this year.

This week's winner of our Featured MySpace Friend Contest is Danny Browning! Danny created what we thought was the funniest sentence out of these four words - chameleon, brisket, molassas, and nipple.
"The Chameleon realized he would soon meet his demise after his nipple and "brisket" got stuck in the molasses."
The mental picture of a chameleon's nipple and "brisket" stuck in molasses had us rolling on the floor!
Danny Browning is a comedian based out of Indiana. Check out some of his videos on his MySpace page:

And as always, don't forget to check us out, too, and join the fun!

Quirkee is very proud to introduce our newest weekly columnist.
We’ve been sorely lacking in our coverage of sports and we lucked out
and found the perfect man for the job.
Justin Sanders is a big sports fan and is active in several fantasy
leagues. He played football for Texas Tech and his strong opinions
about sports have even led to him being quoted on espn.com.
He is also a very funny comedian who started out in the clubs of
Seattle, Washington, cut his teeth some more in Austin, Texas, then
made the big move to New York City, where he delighted audiences and
received much acclaim.
He recently moved back to Austin, Texas, where the citizens can’t wait for him to go back to Seattle.
Hope you enjoy him as much as we do.

Artificial Red won the MySpace Featured Friend Contest by making the best (they were all funny, though) sentence out of these 4 words - booger, television, cookie, & flower...
"This just in: gigantic booger cookies from planet Quirkee are
destroying all of the televisions on Earth, so it would do you good to
hide under a flower pot, or risk total annihilation!"
While the others were really funny as well, we think "gigantic booger cookies from the planet Quirkee" takes the cake! Or booger cookie, whatever.
Artificial Red is a rock band out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Check out their MySpace page here -

And don't forget to stop by the Quirkee MySpace page to read the other entries -
